Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
In our group we investigate how emotions and fear learning changes the neural representation of stimuli in primary and higher order sensory cortices. Thereby, we use Magnetoencefalography (MEG) and Electroencephalography (EEG) in order to record neural activity during emotional stimulation or fear learning procedures in humans. We assess neural activity by analyzing neuromagnetic (MEG) or electrocortical responses in the time and time-frequency domain and apply state-of-the-art cortical localization techniques. We also apply connectivity measures if indicated. We also measure autonomic changes such as skin conductance responses and heart rate changes during fear learning and emotional stimulation and relate them to central nervous system activity. Researchers that will work in our group should be able to use the Matlab environment for data analysis (Brainstorm, Fieldtrip, SPM) and experimental control (Psychtoolbox). Further, researchers should be proficient in statistics (SPSS, R).
