Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Stratospheric and Tropospheric REsearch And Modelling (STREAM) group is a research team at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid devoted to the analysis of the atmospheric circulation and climate variability in the past, present and future (http://stream-ucm.es). Currently, the group has twelve members, including permanent staff, post-doctoral and PhD students, with an intense international activity. The research activity of STREAM is organized around six main topics: tropospheric climate variability, extreme events, dynamics of the middle atmosphere, climate reconstruction in the last millennium, atmospheric composition and machine learning methods.
Research lines / projects proposed
Stratosphere-troposphere coupling. In the last two decades, observational and modelling studies have clearly shown not only that the troposphere affects the stratosphere but also the impact that the stratosphere has on other components of the Earth system, from the troposphere to the deep ocean. This coupling occurs across different spatial and temporal timescales. We are interested in projects that investigate any aspect of this two-way coupling. For more information about our research on this field, please see our website (http://stream-ucm.es).
