Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) is one the largest university in Spain and a key educational and research Spanish centre. UCM is committed to the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers (Charter&Code) through the development of the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R).
Redondo-Muñoz"s Lab is focused on understanding the contribution of the chromatin on the nuclear physics and cancer cell migration. Our group offers an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment to address biological and translational questions by combining state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of molecular and cell biology, biophysics and genetics. We are interested in defining the contribution of the chromatin on the nuclear physics. Moreover, in collaboration with biophysical and clinical groups we have contributed to gain fundamental knowledge about how epigenetic changes influence on the nucleus and the cell migration across 3D environments and endothelial barriers. Our research interest tries to bridge basic to clinical relevant questions to boost societal impact.
Research lines / projects proposed
Currently, our group is focused in determining the molecular and functional mechanisms by which cancer cells migrate and respond to external stimuli:

Identifying epigenetic changes induced by external stimuli (3D environments, soluble signals)
Characterizing the nuclear role of skeletal components on epigenetic changes
Unravelling the molecular mechanisms that translate external stimuli into the cell nucleus.

Our multidisciplinary research has been published in several journals (all of them in the first quartile of their category) and performed in collaboration with national and international groups. We are looking for candidates to add significant value and expertise to our (but not limited to) current research lines. We will encourage the candidate to develop their own research and additional independent funding within the group. We offer a devoted and motivated environment to incorporate a basic researcher with cancer biology, engineering or bioinformatics background, but we are open to hear new ideas.
