Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The origins of the Research Group on Civic Culture and Education Policy (CCyPE) date back to the 1980s, initially promoted by researchers from the Department of Philosophy of Education, later integrated into the Department of Theory and History of Education, at the Complutense University of Madrid.
In 2005 we were recognised as a consolidated research group, making us one of the first educational research groups of this category at our university. The Group's current headquarters are in the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education - Teacher Training Centre, UCM.
Without losing our original identity, associated with the theoretical analysis of education, the group has gradually expanded its areas of interest over time. Today we are made up of more than twenty researchers who develop projects and agreements with public and private entities in several priority lines of research around five thematic areas: theory, philosophy and intellectual history of education; civic, social and labour education; education and culture in the digital age; pedagogy of values in childhood; and national and international education policy.
We work with national and international research networks. Over the last few years, our group has carried out academic activities in countries in Europe, Latin America, North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania.
