Research Team & Research Topic

Research Team / Research Group Name (if any)
Complutense Cosmology and Astroparticles Group
Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Departament of Theoretical Physics of the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain) is one of the largest in Spain, being composed of over 30 members among permanent researchers, senior and junior postdocs, and PhD students. The group is very active in terms of research and publications as well as in organization of scientific activities such as meetings/workshops, seminars, journal clubs, etc. Among the main lines of the Institute one can find classical, semiclassical, and quantum gravity, black holes and other compact objects, Cosmology, theoretical particle and nuclear physics, quantum information, and related topics. Every year the group hosts new applications for postdoctoral researchers, being very sucessful in recruiting talented people from both national and international programmes, and grant them suitable conditions for working and full integration in all the research activities of the group. The research produced by the group is actually very competitive by international standards, directly participating in different observational missions.
Research lines / projects proposed
Dr. Diego Rubiera-Garcia is an experienced researcher recruited thanks to the ``Ayudas de Atracción de Talento 2018" programme of the Comunidad de Madrid (Spain), with a total duration of 4 years (having started in April 1st, 2019). Within this program, he carries an independent research project funded by the programme above, and mainly focused on

- Modified gravity,
- Black holes and other compact objects,
- Stellar structure models,
- Observational tests of metric-affine gravity,
- Understanding and resolution of space-time singularities,
- Gravitational waves and early Cosmology,

though it is open to new topics. The main aim of this program is to improve our comprehension of the gravitational interaction and to meet theoretical predictions of different modifications of General Relativity with observational data, mainly those coming from compact objects, pursuing new avenues and strengthen older ones.

Having published more tan 50 research papers on the topics above along this trajectory (for a full record see https://inspirehep.net/search"p=find+a+diego+rubiera-garcia), Dr. Rubiera-Garcia hosts his own funded research project and participates in many other projects in collaborations with national and international institutions, currently supervising up to three PhD students, with a large degree of mobility. He welcomes any researcher with overlapping interests in any of the topics to support his/her application to the Marie-Curie fellowships, and to guide him/her throughout the different steps of the call. The place of work would be at the Theoretical Physics Departament of the Complutense University of Madrid, but any interactions and mobility with external institutions and researchers is heartly welcomed.
