Critically ill children disease
Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Critically Ill Child Pathology Research Group of the Gregorio Marañón General University Hospital of the Complutense University of Madrid Research Institute is made up of researchers dedicated to the care and treatment of critically ill children.
Our group develops experimental, teaching and clinical research lines, with projects that integrate translational animal experimentation, clinical research and the teaching application of the results.
Our research lines are cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, nutrition in the critically ill child, renal failure and continuous renal replacement therapies, education by simulation, and monitoring and treatment of analgesia and sedation in the critically ill child.
Our group has as main objective the collaboration with other pediatric groups and other specialties to carry out integrating multicenter studies, participating in multiple international collaborating projects.
Our group has extensive experience in training researchers in the Rio Hortega, Predoctoral, Juan Rodés and Fernando de Castro programs of the Carlos III Institute and Complutense University of Madrid
The Pediatric Intensive Care Research Group is a member of the pediatric research network funded by the Carlos III Institute, the Network for Maternal and Child Health and Development (SAMID Network), participates in the RECLIP Network and other international network (PALISI) and coordinates the Ibero-American Network for the Study of the Cardiorespiratory Arrest in Children (RIBEPCI).
Dr. Jesús López-Herce is the head of research group and the Professor of Pediatrics at the Complutense University
Several members of our team are coordinators of different investigation comittees of the European Society of Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care (ESPNIC), Latinoamerican Society of Pediatric Intensive Care (SLACIP) and the Spanish Society of Pediatric Intensive Care (SECIP)
