Research Team / Research Group Name (if any)
Formulation and Bioavailability of New Drugs
Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The postdoctoral researcher will join the "Formulation and Bioavailability of New Drugs" research group, which is focused on the design and development of new drugs. This group is affiliated with the Department of Pharmaceutics and Food Technology at the Complutense University of Madrid. Specifically, the researcher will become part of the team of Professor Ana Isabel Fraguas, whose research focuses on the design and preclinical evaluation of innovative controlled drug delivery systems (mainly nanomedicines, implants, and hydrogels) to optimize the efficacy of active ingredients (both natural and synthetic origins) with anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. The group have several ongoing projects focused on these research lines.

The research team collaborates actively with other experts in pharmaceutical technology, pharmacognosy, microbiology, and organic chemistry, which fosters an environment of cross-disciplinary exchange and allows for the integration of diverse scientific perspectives and cutting-edge methodologies in drug development. This collaborative approach ensures the development of innovative solutions in drug delivery systems and enhances the overall impact of our research on targeted therapies. By joining this dynamic and diverse team, the researcher will contribute to and benefit from ongoing collaborations across multiple fields, further enriching the scope and depth of their research experience.
Research lines / projects proposed
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researchers to join our team in developing next-generation of controlled drug delivery systems for optimizing cancer therapy. Our work emphasizes the development of advanced polymeric systems that offer controlled, sustained release profiles, improving drug stability and prolonging therapeutic effects while minimizing systemic toxicity. We focus on nanomedicines, implantable platforms and hydrogels designed to respond to physiological conditions, offering tailored drug delivery for enhanced cancer treatment. Additionally, our research integrates functionalization strategies to improve targeting and uptake by cancer cells, maximizing therapeutic outcomes.

Our research spans formulation design and preclinical evaluation, including in vitro, in ovo and in vivo studies of pharmacokinetics, biodistribution, and therapeutic performance.

We welcome applications from researchers with backgrounds in pharmaceutical sciences, nanotechnology, biomedical engineering, materials science, or related fields. If you are passionate about advancing nanomedicine and biomaterials for cancer treatment, we invite you to reach out and explore potential collaborations.

Application requirements

Professional Experience & Documents
We are looking for highly motivated postdoctoral researchers with a strong academic background and a passion for advancing controlled drug delivery systems. Applicants should hold a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields. The ideal candidate will have experience in the design and development of advanced drug delivery platforms, particularly those involving nanomedicines, hydrogels, or implantable drug delivery systems. Experience in cell culture studies is desirable, but not mandatory. The candidate should also be proficient in scientific writing and presentation skills for the preparation of research articles, grant proposals, and conference presentations. Fluency in English is essential, while knowledge of Spanish is not mandatory.

Interested fellows are required to submit their CV and a letter of motivation.
You can attach the 'One Page Proposal' to enhance the attractiveness of your application. Supervisors usually appreciate it. Please take into account your background and the information provided in Research Team & Research Topic section to fill in it.
