Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
GAIA: Sculpture between the Body and the Territory is a research group at the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) that explores the intersection of sculpture, the human body, and territory. Founded on September 23, 2021, the group is composed of researchers from the Faculty of Fine Arts, specifically from the Department of Sculpture and Artistic Training.
Some of the group's notable projects include "Conversations with the Territory," "Nature of the Landscape," "Digitization of Unique Trees," "Performative Archaeology," and "Nature Embodiment." These projects integrate practices such as land art, performance, 3D technology, and conservation, with the body and territory as central elements.
Additionally, the group organizes conferences and seminars, such as the I Congress of Sculpture, Body, and Territory at the Cabañeros National Park and the II International Congress of Sculpture between the Body and Territory at the Tagus River, fostering academic and professional exchange in these fields.
