Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Complutense Research Group GASS is located at the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at the UCM Campus and it is composed by a group of researchers and professors from different faculties (Computer Science and Engineering, Economics and Business, Law, Mathematics, and Statistical Studies, the first one being the core Faculty. GASS is clearly inter-departmental oriented, as the group members belong to different departments (Financial and Actuarial Economics and Statistics, Information Systems and Computing, Mathematical Analysis and Applied Mathematics, Procedural Law and Criminal Law, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Data Science, and Statistics and Operational Research). As an interdisciplinary research team, GASS integrates mathematical solutions into different environments and applies them to a broad range of problems. The research concentrates on the design, evaluation and implementation of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, and on the development of security architectures for information and communication systems. The applications areas are privacy, identity management and anonymous communications, as well as trusted platforms. Relatively new research topics deal with big data, multimedia forensics of mobile devices and 6G. GASS collaborates with R&D companies such as IBM or Telefónica I+D, institutions such as CNI, DGP or INTERPOL and with universities such as IPN, UnB or UniKent. Its professional experience includes managing numerous R&D projects and contracts, both publicly and privately funded, and both nationally and internationally.
