Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
We are a group of teachers mainly from the UCM and phD students (not all of them formally linked to the group). We study political institutions and political actors from a comparative perspective. Relevant topics for us are: political parties, political and electoral behaviour, Parliaments, political elites.
Some of the members of the group have an expertise on Latin American Politics and others on European Politics. Some of us have studied abroad (US, México, Italy, UK) and now are teaching at UCM while they continue with their research.
We are very much interested in recruitting researchers who work on our topics related to political institutions, actors, processes. We offer a dynamic environment of people in the group and in our Department that together with visiting researchers has become a friendly atmosphere for research and study in Madrid. We are a few minutes outside the city in a nice campus (somosaguas) which is vibrant and lively.
The codirector of the group, Leticia M. Ruiz, is currently the director of the Political Science Deparment. She is comitted with the task of helping and guiding our postdoctoral new colleague together with the rest of our colleagues. Join us!

Research lines / projects proposed
We welcome researchers with a focus on the study of political parties, party systems, Parliaments as well as on the impact of political elites on political processes. We are also interested on political processes and current trends from a comparative perspective such as democratic backsliding in Latin America, polarization, rise of radical parties, dissafection, to mention a few of the topics that we have or are currently studying.
