Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Group maintains a psychological and social vision of the influence and relationships of the main social factors (social exclusion, social stigma, stressors, etc.) in the etiology, development and treatment of the main mental health problems. The group has placed emphasis on the study of mental health in some special populations: homeless, disabled, elderly and with severe and persistent mental illness and their families. Maintains a research activity and planning of services and policies in this field. In addition, it develops instruments for evaluation and intervention in mental health problems. The research activity of the group has a double aspect, on the one hand, it focuses on the study of the relationships between mental disorders and different social factors, especially those derived from exclusion and social isolation. On the other, the group develops an intense work related to the design and evaluation of psychosocial intervention programs in social exclusion, mental health and disability.
