Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The Research Group on Anthropology and Philosophy of Education (GIAFE) is affiliated with the Complutense University of Madrid under registration number 970581 (approved in July 2012).
GIAFE is currently composed of 20 members from five different universities: Complutense University of Madrid, National University of Distance Education, Autonomous University of Madrid, University of Barcelona, and Nebrija University. Its members belong to nine different university departments: Educational Studies (UCM); Theory and History of Education (UB); International, Ecclesiastical, and Philosophy of Law (UCM); Personality, Evaluation, and Psychological Treatments (UCM); Pedagogy (UAM); Theory of Education and Social Pedagogy (UNED); Research and Psychology in Education (UCM); Social Anthropology and Social Psychology (UCM); and Education (UN). This variety of academic backgrounds reflects the disciplinary and epistemological openness of this research group.
Furthermore, the group's name aims to establish a distinctive mark of its thematic and methodological identity. Our goal is to propose, from all possible perspectives, a careful examination of the foundations and the anthropological and philosophical aspects of education. We consider it essential to focus on deepening the purposes of education as conditions for the possibility of the most inherently humanizing actions.
In the latest UCM Research Group Evaluation call (2021/2022), it was recognized as "GOOD."
