Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The TECTACT group (Planetary Geodynamics, Active Tectonics and Related Risks: Group UCM 910368) research group is composed by geologists and physicists from four Spanish universities and three research centers, two national (Instituto Geológico y Minero de España and Instituto Geográfico Nacional) and one international (Geological and Nuclear Sciences of New Zealand). The group has internationally renowned experts in different methodologies and techniques. A description of these can be found on the group page: http://tectact.wordpress.com/ Group managers: Jose J. Martínez Díazand Meaza Tsige Beyene.

In the last five years the Tectact group has participated in several research projects and contracts related to the geological analysis of seismicity and its relationship with active faults. The results obtained in the group research have provided a large amount of field and experimental data from various regions: Central America, New Zealand, Betic Range, Pyrenees and Madrid Basin.

In recent years we focused our research in the microstructural and reological study of fault gouges, 3d structural modellng, and monitoring (GPS and microseismicity) of active faults in Betic Cordillera, active fault analysis in El Salvador Volcanic Arc and landslide modeling and hazard analysis in both regions.
Research lines / projects proposed
-1) Active fault characterization from a multidisciplinary approximation; development of numerical and analogue structural analysis, geomorphological analysis, paleoseismic analysis and modeling space geodesy in order to calculate the seismic hazard.
