Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
The UCM Research Group IMAGINARIOS, created in 2019, brings together a series of researchers working from transdisciplinary positions in the areas of Art History and visual culture.
Instead of a single subject or a specific chronological framework, we share a methodological interest on the idea of "imaginaries" as a conceptual tool that allows us to reflect upon the creation, circulation and transformation o cultural narratives. We are interested in exploring the social life of images, rather than their intrinsic characteristics. We also seek to integrate affectivity and materiality into visual culture and art history research. We would like to promote transdisciplinary exchange with areas such as anthropology and sociology, as well as comparative studies with a transnational perspective.
IMAGINARIOS includes the following researchers: Estrella de Diego Otero (UCM, codirector), Alicia Fuentes Vega (UCM, codirector), Pablo Allepuz García (CSIC-UCM, PhD student), Irene García Chacón (UV), Yuji Kawasima (CdE Reina Sofía Museum), Ana Romero de Pablos (CSIC), Eloy V. Palazón (UCM, PhD student).
