Brief description of the Research Team / Research Group / Department
REDESOC is a well-established research group of Complutense University, with focus on the study of international, national and regional legal issues regarding the interrelation between State, society and religions/beliefs, from the perspective of the fundamental right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion. A special attention is devoted to: the legal instruments to guarantee and facilitate religious and ethical pluralism in society; the interaction between religious freedom and other fundamental freedoms (in particular freedom of expression and the right to the respect of private and family life); and current conflicts in which the religious or ethical identity of individuals and groups is at stake.

REDESOC collaborates regularly with other international and national institutions and research groups, especially in Europe and America (North and South), as well as with government and international agencies.

Members of REDESOC edit the Revista General de Derecho Canónico y Derecho Eclesiástico del Estado (www.iustel.com), which is one of the most influential legal periodicals on law and religion issues within the scholarly community that speaks Latin languages.
